2/3rd of October 2009: 2 day conference
This year the Association of Podiatrists of Malta is celebrating its 10 years as a professional body representing all Podiatrists and Podiatry students of Malta. To honour this event the APM is organising a 2 day conference on the 2/3rd of October 2009. The conference will be held at Radisson SAS St Julians. On both days, local and foreign speakers will deliver presentations according to their respective fields. Both days will be on different subjects. Day 1 will be on paediatrics and day 2 on geriatrics. The conference will be open for all health care professions.

22nd November 2008: The 2008 APM Annual Conference
The Association of Podiatrists of Malta would like to invite you to the 2008 annual conference.

Venue: Hotel Excelsior, Valletta
Time: 8:30 am Registration
Fees: 35 Euros Members
Fees: 25 Euros Students
Fees: 80 Euros Non Members

The conference will be presented by Mr. Kevin Cassar, Consultant Vascular surgeon at Mater Dei Hospital and will focus on vascular conditions relating to the lower limb. During the conference we will also have workshops on the use of ABPI (Ankle Brachial Pressure Index) and other related devices. It is advisable that you prepare questions on queries you encounter in your daily practice. It is an opportunity to become skilled on this interesting subject, and give a wider scope to our profession. Throughout the conference you will also have an opportunity to learn about new products and services offered by our sponsors. So we look forward to meet up at this event. We well know that for those who work in the public service study leave is granted. For approval of study leave one must send a written note to their respective manager. For those in the private sector I am sure you will make your utmost to attend.

3rd July 2007 Lecture with Prof Kate Springett From UK
On the 3rd of July at 730pm at PHBS premises, the Institute of Health Care in collaboration with the APM, organised a lecture delivered by Prof Kate Springett about Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging - its value to clinical practice. All of us were invited to participate at this interesting, yet new instrument to some of us.

25th - 26th October 2007. 3rd International conference on Holistic care

21.April.2007 APM Seminar on Holistic Care
The APM organised a seminar on Holistic care at PHBS offices in Mosta, adressed by Dr. Donia Baldacchino SRN. Members attending this interesting and beneficial seminar were given a certificate of attendance. Refreshments and coffe breaks were provided by PHBS.

26-28.05.2007 FIP World Congress of Podiatry
The FIP is organized its World Congress in Copenhagen between the 26th and 28th of May 2007. As expected it was the largest meeting podiatrists have ever had. The congress served as a very good opportunity for all of us to get to know international podiatrists and discuss podiatric issues with other health professions. We had one common theme in mind that is "To learn more about how to care for people's feet and problems and to help our clients live a more comfortable life".
Mr. Paul Shenton, President of FIP states that "The Federation of Podiatrists (FIP) Congress was the largest scientific meeting and gathering of podiatrists from across the globe in 2007. No matter what your affiliation or relation to podiatric medicine and from wherever you came, you could have taken this opportunity to meet with colleagues from all over the globe in May 2007 in Copenhagen and help towards keeping the world on its feet".
Topics discussed during this congress included biomechanics, gait analysis, dermatological disorders, footwear, geriatrics, nail disorders, orthotics, pediatrics, podiatric sports injuries, podiatric surgery, foot care prevention, the rheumatoid foot, the diabetic foot and wound management amongst others. 26.February.2007 APM Brush up talk
The APM organised it's first brush up talk on silicone and taping techniques. Mr. Dave Dunning who was in Malta for university matters offered to give us a lecture on these techniques at PHBS offices, Mosta. Refreshments were provided by PHBS and some of the members joined the committee for dinner with Mr and Mrs Dunning after the lecture.

26.January.2007 APM AGM
The APM held the annnual AGM at B'Kara Local Council hall on Friday 26th of January at 7.30pm sharp. All state registered podiatrists were invited.

03.December.2006 The 2006 APM Annual Conference
The Association of Podiatrists of Malta organised the 2006 annual conference at the Westin Dragonara, St.Julians. The seminar focused mainly on surgical and non surgical management of certain foot conditions. During the seminar insight was given to new techniques such as trigger pointing and foot acupuncture, something new for most of us. The seminar was presented by two foreign speakers Mr. Dave Dunning and Mr. Mark Price. Throughout the seminar delegates also had the opportunity to learn about new products and services offered by our sole sponsor PHARMA-COS LTD. Those who attended the full seminar received 15hours of CPD points. As in previous years the seminar was a way where we could all learn something new, socialise and get to know each other even better. For this event study leave was granted to attend for those who work in the public service; also special arrangements were made for students. Those in the private sector were also urged to do their utmost to attend.

Keynote speakers

Mr David N Dunning M.Sc., S.R.Ch., Dip.Pod.M
Dave is a general practice podiatrist who has worked in private practice in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire for over 20 years following a period of NHS work. He has a special interest in biomechanics and has worked with all the local football league clubs, some physiotherapy clinics, specialist diabetic and rheumatology clinics and has been involved in the management of many injuries to elite sports participants and athletes at national and international level. He is also involved as a consultant with the Footlogic Healthcare Group podiatric and orthopaedic footwear and orthotic services. Apart from his clinical practice, Dave has taken an active role in academic and research life at Staffordshire University for the last 10 years contributing to PG courses in clinical biomechanics, specialist footwear and musculoskeletal diagnosis. He has a Masters Degree in Sports Injury and Therapy and is the Vice Chairperson of the Podiatric Biomechanics Group (of Great Britain) and a member of the Board of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (UK). He is also an honorary member of the American Association of Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons. (AAPPS). His research interests span through the area of Footwear, Foot orthoses, biomechanics, sports injuries and tissue viability.

Thursday 23rd November at 1230pm, a Brushup talk on Indeminty insurance was held at PHBS, Mosta. All Members were invited to attend.

22.May.2006 Promoting Our profession through media
From the 22nd May till the 26th May 2006, members from the APM were invited to take part on the TV programme 22am presented by Annalise Ellul on TVM. The members were Mr. Ivan Farrugia, Mr. Silvan Gauci, Mr. Disma Gauci, Mrs. Rosemarie Lanfranco, Mrs. Phyllis Camilleri. They discussed various subjects regarding podiatry.
