The Association

For the past 20 years the need of commencing an Association for Podiatrists was always recognised however since the number of State Registered Podiatrists was too little at that time this could not be made possible.

During these past 20 years the number of Podiatrists in the Maltese islands increased and it was than that this "dream" finally became a reality. The first extraordinary General Meeting for Podiatrists was held on the 20th December 1999. This new body was than entitled "The Association Of Podologists and Podiatrists" with Mr. Alfred Gatt being elected by the members as the first president of the association.

The Association also published its first publication for its members entitled "Foot Prints". During the year 2003 it was agreed that the name of the association should be changed to " The Association Of Podiatrists Of Malta"

Today 26 members are registered with this Association with its committee strives hard to promote the profession and to offer foot health education to the general public.
